This year I wanted to make something with my boys for grandparents gifts. I came across snowman footprint art and thought it would be perfect. That way the grandparents could keep them up all winter and not just Christmas. I am going to give a quick tutorial below on how I made them. Doing footprints with Carsyn and Prestyn is much easier then doing hand prints. All the grandparents really liked them, it was nice to give them something personalized.
Snowman Footprint Art Tutorial
Materials Needed:
Canvas (I used 16×20 since Dustyn has a pretty big foot and I was doing 3 footprints)
Blue paint
White Paint
Sharpie Paint Markers
Directions:
Paint the canvas all blue. Let dry completely. I waited overnight.
Paint white on the bottom of the canvas to make the snow. I just swirled it on to let some of the blue show through so it looked more real. Let dry. I waited a few hours.
Paint white on the bottom of your child’s foot, and push gently down on the canvas. Make sure you push down on the middle of the foot so you get some of the arch. The first foot we did had none, and had to do it again. Let dry over night.
Using a black sharpie paint marker draw the hat, eyes, mouth and buttons. You can make arms if you want but I liked the way it looked without them.
Use an orange paint marker for the nose, then whatever colors you want for the scarves.
You could also add white dots at the end for snow, but I didn’t want to mess it up.
