Recipe 10/52 for my 30 before 30 list. I am making and blogging about one new recipe a week. My recipe this week is a little late, but I am glad we tried something new. Today I am sharing how to make a simple turkey meatloaf.

Simple Turkey MeatloafThis is really easy to make and so delicious. It still may not be exactly lean and green for my Medifast diet, but I feel it is better option then regular meatloaf. It was a lot less greasy, but wasn’t dried out. You could always add in other seasonings to change up the taste to your liking.

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 lb. lean ground turkey
  • 1/2 cup quick oats
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup ketchup plus more for topping
  • 2 tablespoons worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 350ºF.
  2. Melt butter in a small skillet over medium-high heat. Add onion and garlic; cook 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and let cool.
  3. In a large bowl add ground turkey, quick oats, egg, 1/4 cup ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, and pepper.
  4. Add cooled onions and garlic. Mix together well.
  5. Press into regular sized loaf pan or three small loaf pans.
  6. Spread some extra ketchup over top.
  7. Bake 30-45 minutes or until the internal temperature of meatloaf is 165ºF.
  8. Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.
