Prestyn is turning a year old in just over a week and I wanted to do something special to commemorate such a huge milestone. After some thought, I decided it would be really great to have a photo book for the guests at his party to look through. In my experience, photo books tend to be such a huge undertaking and being a mom of three, I’ve already got a lot on my plate. Between planning a 1st birthday party, doing the usual mom stuff (chauffeur, chef, tutor, laundress, etc, etc, etc) and taking care of Carsyn after his recent surgery I have little to no extra time. That’s why I love Shutterfly’s new Make My Book Service. It’s so streamlined that it hardly takes a thought.
Doing a photo book is a great idea for this type of event because it kills two birds with one stone. I wanted it for the party, sure, but I also feel like I need it for myself, if I’m honest. The first year is so full of LIFE. So much change in such a short time; how can I possibly remember every precious moment? I have tons and tons and TONS of photos on my phone and computer but I’ve noticed as the boys grow that it’s really rare for me to take the time to look at my photos when they’re in digital format. I forget they exist. That’s why it’s so important to me to have a tangible version of my precious memories. There’s something special about being able to turn a page and get a glimpse of a favorite moment and a sweet chubby face.
Make My Book is incredibly easy to use; I picked a 10×10 book, uploaded 60 of my favorite photos from his first year and picked the Baby’s First Year layout. In less than 3 business days I received a beautiful, personalized photo book. It is free to try out and you only pay if you order the book, so that’s a big plus. I loved having a professional designer make my book for me. That’s a lot less time spent making the book and a lot more time with my boys.
I know I’ll treasure these photos for the rest of my life so I’m really glad I decided to make this book. As soon as the book arrived Prestyn and I perused through it. He loved looking at his photos, and I am excited that he has something to look through as he grows up.
What kind of book would you have Shutterfly make? Wedding, Birthday, Vacation?
