Wednesday May 10th Dustyn had a soccer game. He and I were outside practicing when he tripped over the ball and fell. He was very upset saying that his arm was hurt so bad. He can be a little dramatic sometimes, so I told him to get up brush it off we have a game to get to. He sat out the first quarter of the game but then played the last three quarters.
He told me it was bothering him but he thought it was just sprained. He went on and went to school on Thursday. At recess one of his classmates decided to knock him down and Dustyn went to the nurses office because it hurt even worse. I called for an appointment to see his doctor that day but they were booked and could see him first thing in the morning.
In the meantime Carsyn’s school called because he was sick, and was just keeping his head on the tray. I went to pick him up and we started an afternoon full of breathing treatments, but his breathing got really bad in the middle of the night so Kenny took him to the ER and they transferred him up to CHKD. He improved enough that they sent him home. That all happened on his birthday. Poor guy!
So Friday morning I drove up to pick up Kenny and Carsyn, dropped them and Prestyn off at home. Took Dustyn to his appointment where the doctor said he was almost positive it was broke. We were sent over for an X-ray and sure enough it was. I felt TERRIBLE that I let him go so long with a broken arm. They casted his arm right there in the office.
He has 3 more weeks and then it will be removed. Right before Summer break.
It stinks because he couldn’t play the rest of the soccer season but he has been practicing non-stop and showed up for the last couple games of the season to cheer on his teammates.
I am thankful everything seems to be calming down now. We are all feeling better and Dustyn is getting used to his cast. Though I have to say it already stinks terribly!!!
