I am officially 29 years old today!! I decided to make a list of 30 Things To Do Before Turning 30. That means I only have a year, so I am going to make them pretty reasonable. There won’t be things like go to Paris or anything like that.  My goal is to try and do an update at least once a month on what I have accomplished.

30 Things To Do Before Turning 30

30 Things To Do Before Turning 30

1. Have family pictures taken

I really want to get professional family pictures of us taken. This is something we need to get done yearly, but hasn’t happened the past couple of years. Also want to get them printed out, not just have them hanging out on the computer.

2. Take care of my body

For me this includes losing 70lbs, so that I can be there for my kids. They want me to play with them, but I just don’t have the ability to do it for long. I want to eat healthier to show them a good example.

3. Climb to the top of a lighthouse

I probably did this as a child, but I really want to take my boys to the top of a lighthouse.

4. Sing karaoke

This is kind of a face my fear type thing. I can’t carry a tune, but I think it would be fun.

5. Find a new house for our family (Contract fell through so we will be working on improving our current home)

We are in the process of selling our home, but as far as where we are going next is up in the air. I hope to find a new home and be settled by the time I am 30.

6. Read the whole Bible

I want to read the whole Bible again.

7. Go on a camping trip

Some of my favorite memories growing up were from camping. Therefore, I hope we can create some fond memories for our boys.

8. Read 15 new books (2 down 13 to go | 07/01/14)

I used to love reading, but since having kids I haven’t been able to do much reading. First on my list is “The Power Of Your Metabolism”.

9. Have a weekend getaway, no kids

I want to go somewhere with just Kenny. Our 10 year anniversary is in July, so I think we are due for one. Now just deciding where we should go.

10. Learn how to do yoga

I have always been curious about yoga. It looks like it would be very relaxing.

11. Try 52 new recipes (Posting once a week)

We need some new recipes in our rotation. I figured if we try a new recipe each week and share them on the blog it would help us find some new favorites.

12. Mentor someone

I would love to mentor someone in photography. I am no expert by any means but I think it would be fun to share my knowledge.

13. Visit my best friend

My best friend moved to Washington State, I would love to visit her there. I have never been to the west coast, so I think it would be a fun trip.

14. Revamp my personal style

My personal style right now is jeans and t-shirts. I am hoping with the weight loss I can revamp my personal style and start wearing cute clothes.

15. Learn to live a simple life

I really think life would be much less stressful if we lived with less stuff. I have come to realize that more isn’t always better.

16. Go snorkleing

Ever since I can remember I have wanted to go snorkleing.

17. Take a self-portrait once a month

I do not like taking pictures of myself, but when my kids grow up I don’t want there to be no pictures of their mom. I plan to take a new self-portrait each month.

18. Pay for a strangers meal

I have wanted to pay it forward for awhile, but always chicken out.

19. Learn to play an instrument

I took piano lessons as a kid but always played by sheet music. I would love to learn to play chords on the piano.

20. Photograph a meteor shower

I have watched meteor showers before but haven’t tried to photograph one yet.

21. Push myself to be a better person

I strive to be a better person every day, but I hope in the next year that I become a better wife, mom, and friend.

22. Get a full body massage

This one is very much needed and I can not wait!

23. Find the perfect little black dress

Do you have a perfect little black dress? I have yet to find one and I could have used one on many occasions.

24. Get a tattoo

Yes, this one has been on the back of my mind for years. I do not have one yet, but I have an idea for the one that I want.

25. Go to an art class with friends

Have you heard of those wine and art classes? They look like so much fun, so I want to get some friends together and go one night.

26. Fight for more HPE research

I really want to help raise money for Holoprosencephaly research. I also want to tell more people about Carsyn’s condition. Not many people have heard of it before.

27. Participate in a 5K

I would love to be able to run an entire 5K.

28. Stay out until the sun comes up

I used to do this as a teenager, but I would love to relive my youthful years.

29. Take technology breaks

My goal is to take a technology break one day a month.

30. Do 30 days of something

I am still trying decide what my something will be. I take a photo everyday anyways so I can’t really do that. I am thinking maybe a 30 day blog challenge… Or a 30 day spring cleaning challenge… What do you think I should do for this one?

Here is a generalized list if you would like to save it for yourself. Maybe you are already 30 but these are definitely things that you can strive to do this year.

30 is creeping up in a few weeks for me, although it is a bit shadowed by my first baby that should make its appearance even sooner!! What a great birthday present!

I really like the "Do 30 days of something" idea, especially since it's such an opportune time with June coming up tomorrow. But it's difficult coming up with something that you won't tire of and begin to dread a single week in...

i like the 'revamp personal style' !!! i need to add that one to my list. i feel like after you become a mom, your personal style/personal needs/etc take a backseat to doing everything else for everyone..i'm so guilty of this seeing as how i wear t-shirts and jeans A LOT

I love the tattoo idea! I've been talking about it for years and I said if I don't get it by the time I'm 30 I have to stop talking about it. Yikes! Do you have any design ideas?
